Deputy Secretary of Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Son attended the event.

At the conference, the Prime Minister’s Decision No.369/QD-TTg dated May 4, 2024, approving the Planning for the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region in the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050, was announced.

Under the planning, the Northern Midlands and Mountains will become a green, sustainable and comprehensive development region by 2030, with a basic infrastructure framework connecting the region with the Red River Delta, the capital city of Hanoi, and the North Central sub-region.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of Ha Giang Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Van Son, proposed that for the policy group on border economic development and border gate infrastructure, Thanh Thuy Border Gate economic zone in Ha Giang should be added to the list of key economic zones for investment during the 2026-2030 period. The investment and upgrade of the Thanh Thuy Border Gate economic zone’s infrastructure is essential to promote investment efficiency on the Phu Tho - Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang Expressway and exploit trade opportunities with inland provinces of China through the Thien Bao International Border Gate.

Ha Giang leader expressed his hope that the Coordinating Council for the region will propose the Government to soon submit to the National Assembly (NA) for approval of the NA’s Resolution on decentralising the approval of the province’s planning in the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050. He also asked the council to propose to the Government to consider the policy on investment for the Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang Expressway Project’s section from Tan Quang to Thanh Thuy International Border Gate (Ha Giang Province) according to the planning, with four lanes and total length of about five kilometres.

Concluding the conference, Deputy PM Tran Luu Quang, stressed that the Northern Midlands and Mountains region faces several difficulties, so it needs many resources, a lot of time and specific solutions for sustainable development. He asked the ministries and agencies to quickly complete projects, plans and documents that are being carried out, towards facilitating the implementation.
