Ha Giang strives to complete agricultural and forestry production targets in 2024

BHG - The Ha Giang Provincial People’s Committee has just held a conference to assess the agricultural and forestry production situation in the first six months of the year and deploy tasks for the second half of 2024. Member of the Provincial Standing Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Hoang Gia Long chaired the conference.

In the first six months, the economic growth of the agricultural, forestry and fishery sectors at current prices was estimated at over 6,475 billion VND. The growth rate was estimated to increase by 4.71%, with the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production estimated at over 3,400 billion VND, the total area of planting annual crops being over 60,500 hectares and the total output of grain food was over 124,000 tonnes. The progress of growing the Summer-Autumn rice crop and other crops has met the set plan. The rate of livestock and poultry sold increased by 6.73% over the same period last year. Up to now, the whole province has 152 OCOP products certified, including 148 3-star products, two 4-star products and two National 5-star products.

In his conclusion speech, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Hoang Gia Long requested, that identifying the last six months of the year as the time to accelerate the completion of the set targets and tasks, the agricultural sector needs to be determined and focus on directing the acceleration of production progress, to ensure food security for the people and must have specific solutions for each field. Changing people’s thinking is the key to the development of the sector. Along with that, the whole industry and localities should actively implement specialised resolutions on agriculture, transform the structure of crops and livestock, innovate and further strengthen State management on forest protection and development, forest fire prevention and control, and the exploitation and use of irrigation works. In addition, the sector must proactively respond to natural disasters, and disease forecasting, and prevention must be carried out early to prevent spread.
